I have been doing photography now for 5+ years. I started in year 9 and I am now 19 having just finished in my third year of college. Throughout this period of time I have become passionate about the subject and my skills and techniques have excelled.

Instantaneously creative
During the period of GCSE's I studied both art and photography. In this time I discovered that photography was definitely my creative. There are several reasons for this the obvious being I was better at photography. Although for me this was not the main reason. I felt there was more enjoyment within photography. I loved how I could create my now reality through the lens, being able to capture a real moment in time and the ability you have to create your own. Whether this is in post-production or physically with your self constructed set up. Also a key aspect to photography that made me love it so much was how instantaneous the process of digital photography is. If you take an image and are not happy with the outcome it is as simple as reshooting, which creates a limitless feeling of freedom and creativity when shooting. Photography is it's own type of art form that you can control and manipulate how you wish. This is what makes photography my passion and the creative medium I work in.
The power of lens
As I have become more advanced I photography everyday and have learnt more techniques and skills that the camera and it's lens allows when shooting manually. You can completely transform the reality of what you see with your eyes through camera. For example, long exposures, which involve capturing a moment in a still image, we are unable to do this with the human eye. This proves the capability of the lens and it pushes the limits of art and visuals.
Influences
For me growing up one of my biggest artistic influences was Tim Burton. I admired him and was inspired by how he transformed reality and saw it in his own way and showed this through the form of art. His version of reality he channeled through his creation and direction of film. A quote of his that has stayed with me through my creative career is "One person's craziness is another persons reality", this gave me confidence to believe in what I envisioned creating and gave me the capability and freedom to feel comfortable experimenting . Now I have discovered my specialism within photography , fashion, I have admired Tim Walker's work greatly being one of my most influential artists. Alike Walker I shoot fashion photography because it is the only genre in photography that you have the power to be as creative as you wish as there are no limits. It can be as directed and constructed as you wish. As Walker said "Fashion is the only photography that allows fantasy".

Post-production
For me my love of photography does not end at taking the image. The enjoyment of manipulating an image to your ideal and own after taking, through photoshop and lightroom is so powerful and a aspect is so pleasing and completes my images. You can transform an image completely through post-production, such as using tools such as colour ranging, masking and presets. You can transform an average image to something fantastic and beautiful. There is no right or wrong with editing, though there is reality and fantasy and it depends what you want out of your work.
